SAUVAGE is a full grain aniline leather tanned in a historic leather producing region of Italy using English hides. The century old tannery prepares this leather article by applying a hot wax, then turning the hides in old wooden tanning drums overnight to soften the natural fibers and impart it with a remarkable suppleness. The leather is then upholstered in its "crust form" on the furniture in Hickory, NC. After the furniture is made our leather artisans apply a multi-step hand rubbed Patina using the same waxes and pigments used in Italy. Performing this process on the actual finished piece allows our artisans to develop a unique Patina composition, and overall essence that creates a piece of furniture with uniqueness, character and style that matches the individual who's selecting it. Sauvage imparts the feeling of a softer, well broken in leather one might find on a decades old chair without the aging issues that sometimes come from the hands of time. Truly a unique, hand-made article in an era when only companies committed to the highest standards lavish this sort of attention and time to unique American made furniture.
